dōTERRA wholesale account explained: how the 25% discount really works
What a dōTERRA wholesale customer account is, what it costs, what it does not oblige you to, and how it compares with buying at retail or from a reseller.
If you have searched for dōTERRA prices, you have probably noticed two numbers next to every oil: a retail price and a wholesale price about a quarter lower. The lower one is not a promotion and not a trade-only price. It is what any member pays, and becoming a member takes about five minutes. This guide explains what that account is, what it costs, and what people usually get wrong about it.
Two prices, one product
dōTERRA sells the same bottle at two prices. Retail is what a visitor pays on doterra.com without an account. Wholesale is 25% lower and applies to every product in the catalogue, from a single bottle of Lavender to a diffuser or a supplement. The oil, the label and the warehouse are identical; only the price changes.
To get the wholesale price you open a Wholesale Customer account. That is the official name of the plain customer membership. It is separate from the business account (Wellness Advocate), and you do not need the business account to get the discount.
What the account costs
There is a one-time enrollment fee in every market, roughly the price of a single 15 ml oil. In most countries it is waived entirely when your first order is a starter kit, because the kit already includes it.
After twelve months the membership renews for a similar fee. dōTERRA sends a free 15 ml Peppermint with every renewal, which in most markets is worth more than the fee itself. If you do not renew, nothing happens: the account simply goes back to retail pricing until you decide to renew.
What it does not oblige you to
This is the part people worry about, so it deserves plain language:
- No monthly minimum. A wholesale customer can order once a year or once a week. There is no quota.
- No subscription unless you turn it on. The Loyalty Rewards Program (LRP) is optional. It gives 10–30% of each order back as product points, but you can join it later or never.
- No selling and no recruiting. A wholesale customer is a customer. You are not asked to share, sell or sign anyone up, and you never receive business e-mails about team building.
- No contract length. You can stop ordering at any time and let the membership lapse.
If at some point you do want to share the oils and earn commissions, the account can be upgraded to Wellness Advocate from your back office. Most members never do.

Marketplace listings are the trap here. A bottle sold by a third party may be genuine and it may not; it may have sat in a hot warehouse for two years; and the price is often higher than the wholesale price you would pay directly. The account is the cheaper and safer route.
Which country to enroll in
Your account belongs to one market, and that market decides the warehouse, the currency and the shipping rules. Enroll in the country where you actually receive parcels. dōTERRA has official warehouses in the United States, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Israel, the UAE, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and about fifteen more markets; other countries are served through a program called Global Access.

What to order first
If you are new to essential oils, a starter kit is the sensible first order: it replaces the enrollment fee and costs less than the same bottles bought separately. The Home Essentials kit (ten 15 ml oils and a diffuser) is the classic choice for a household. If you already know which oils you want, skip the kit, pay the small fee and pick freely.
Whatever you order, the price you see after enrolling is the wholesale price, and it stays that way for every later order.
