dōTERRA membership renewal: what it costs, when it is due, and what happens if you do not pay
The dōTERRA wholesale membership lasts 12 months. How the renewal fee works, what it costs in Europe, the UK and the US, why nothing is charged if you do not order, and the free Peppermint that comes with it.

A year after you opened your account, an unfamiliar line appears in the cart: membership renewal. For some people it is a surprise, for others a reason to think the account was a subscription after all. It is neither. The wholesale membership at dōTERRA is valid for twelve months, and after that a small renewal fee buys the next twelve. Below is exactly how the renewal works, what it costs in different markets, what happens if you ignore it, and how to decide whether it is worth paying.
In short: the membership runs 12 months from enrollment. The renewal fee (€15 / £15 excl. VAT in Europe and the UK, $25 in the US) is added to your first order after the renewal date; if you do not order, nothing is charged. The renewal order comes with a free 15 ml Peppermint, which in most markets is worth more than the fee.
What the membership is and why it expires
A dōTERRA Wholesale Customer account gives you 25% off the retail price of every product in the catalogue. The discount is not permanent by default: it is granted for a year from the enrollment date. dōTERRA calls this the membership, and the small fee you paid at enrollment covers the first year.
Why a yearly term at all? The practical reason is that a wholesale account costs the company something to maintain — the back office, the order history, the support line — and the yearly fee keeps accounts active only for people who actually buy. The upside for you is that there is no commitment: you pay for the year you use and nothing for the years you do not.
The membership is tied to your member number and to the market where you enrolled. It does not matter whether you placed one order or twelve in the year, or whether you joined the Loyalty Rewards Program — the renewal date is the same for everyone: twelve months after enrollment.
When the renewal is due
The renewal date is the anniversary of your enrollment. If you opened the account on 3 October 2026, wholesale pricing runs until 3 October 2027. You can see the date in your account: log in at doterra.com, open the profile or membership section, and the expiry date is shown next to your member number. If you have lost your login, the article dōTERRA login and account access explains how to get back in.
A few weeks before the date dōTERRA usually sends a reminder e-mail. If you never see one, that is not a problem: nothing happens on the date itself. The membership simply moves into a state where the next order carries the renewal fee.
How the fee is charged
This is the part most people get wrong, so it is worth spelling out.
The renewal fee is not charged separately and not taken from your card automatically. dōTERRA adds it as a line item to the first order you place after the renewal date. You see it in the cart before you pay, together with the products, shipping and tax. If you do not place an order, there is no charge, no invoice and no debt.
So the sequence looks like this:
- Your membership year ends.
- You open the shop, add products to the cart.
- In the cart there is an extra line: membership renewal, plus the free Peppermint.
- You pay for the order; the fee is included.
- Wholesale pricing is active again for the next twelve months, counted from the renewal order.
If you decide not to order for six months, nothing changes. Your account is still there, your member number is still yours, and the first order you place in month seven will carry the fee. The year then counts from that order, not from the original expiry date — you do not pay for the months you were away.
What it costs by market
| Market | Renewal fee | Free product |
|---|---|---|
| Europe (eurozone, Poland, Romania…) | €15 excl. VAT, roughly €18 with VAT depending on the country | Peppermint 15 ml |
| United Kingdom | £15 excl. VAT | Peppermint 15 ml |
| United States | $25 | Peppermint 15 ml |
| Kazakhstan, Israel, UAE, Ukraine, Canada and others | shown in your account or at checkout | check in the cart |
For the European and US markets the numbers are stable and have been for a while. For the other markets we deliberately do not print a figure: the amounts are set in local currency and change with exchange rates, and a wrong number in an article is worse than no number. The exact fee appears in the cart before you pay; if you want to know in advance, write to us with your country and we will look it up.
For comparison, here is what the first year cost, so you can see that the renewal is in every market cheaper than the enrollment:
| Country | Enrollment fee (first year) |
|---|---|
| Germany | €23.75 |
| France | €24 |
| Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Romania | €24.25 |
| Italy, Portugal | €24.50 |
| United Kingdom | £24 |
| Poland | 107.75 zł |
| Ukraine, Moldova | €19.92 |
| Kazakhstan | 9,260 ₸ |
| Israel | ₪103.50 |
| UAE | 130 AED |
| United States | currently free with the first purchase |
| Canada | not charged when enrolling with a consultant ID |
In Europe the enrollment fee is waived when the first order reaches 150 PV; the renewal fee has no such waiver — it is always a line in the order, but it is also smaller.
The free Peppermint, and the honest arithmetic
With the renewal order dōTERRA adds a 15 ml bottle of Peppermint at no charge. In Europe Peppermint 15 ml costs more at wholesale than the renewal fee; in the US the wholesale price is roughly the same as the $25 fee. In other words, the renewal is effectively a bottle of Peppermint you were going to pay for anyway, plus twelve months of wholesale pricing thrown in.
The arithmetic for a typical household goes like this. Say you order two or three times a year, around €100 each time. At retail those orders would cost about 33% more — around €100 extra over the year. The renewal fee is €18 with VAT. Even a single order of €60 saves more at wholesale than the renewal costs.
When does renewing not pay off? Only if you are not going to order at all. And in that case there is nothing to decide: you do not order, so the fee is never added. The only scenario where you lose a little is placing one tiny order — a single €15 bottle — right after the renewal date. Then the fee exceeds the saving. The sensible move is to combine that bottle with the next thing you need, or to order it on the last day of the old membership year.
What happens if you do nothing
Let us be precise, because this is the question we get most often from people who are nervous about “membership”:
- No money is taken from your card. dōTERRA does not store a standing charge for the renewal.
- No debt is recorded. You will not get a letter, an invoice or a collection notice.
- The account is not deleted. Your member number, order history and any LRP template remain.
- The shop shows retail prices when you are logged in. That is the only visible change.
- The enroller connection is kept. Our number stays on your account, so if you come back and need help, we can still see you in the system.
In practice people renew whenever they next want to order, and that is exactly how the system is designed. Some renew after a year, some after three. There is no penalty for the gap.
One caveat: if you had points in the Loyalty Rewards Program, the usual LRP rules apply — a month without an LRP order resets your points regardless of the membership status. That is a feature of the program, not of the renewal, and it is described in the LRP article.
Renewal and the Loyalty Rewards Program
If you have an LRP template, the renewal is even simpler: the first monthly order after the anniversary carries the fee, the Peppermint arrives in the same parcel, and you do not have to do anything. It is a good idea to check the LRP order total in the days before the processing date, so that the extra €18 does not come as a surprise on your card statement.
If you want the Peppermint to count towards the free product of the month, it does not: the product of the month is a separate promotion that requires 125 PV processed by the 15th. The renewal Peppermint is added regardless of order size.
Common questions about renewal
“I enrolled with a kit and paid no fee. Do I still renew?” Yes. The kit covered the first-year fee; after twelve months the renewal applies like for everyone else.
“I moved to another country.” The account renews in the market where it was opened and ships only there. Write to dōTERRA support of your new country or to us; sometimes the right answer is a new account in the new market, sometimes a transfer. The countries page shows which markets have direct enrollment.
“I enrolled through someone I no longer talk to. Does that change anything?” No. The renewal is between you and dōTERRA. If you would like a contact who answers questions, you can ask dōTERRA support to change your enroller, but it is not needed for renewing.
“Can I pay the renewal without ordering, just to keep the discount?” In most markets there is no separate “pay renewal only” button; the fee rides on an order. Since there is no benefit to paying early, the simplest approach is to wait until you actually want something.
“The cart shows the renewal but I enrolled less than a year ago.” Check the enrollment date in your account. If it really has been less than twelve months, contact dōTERRA support of your market with your member number; this is rare and usually a date mix-up on an account that was reactivated.
Should you renew?
The honest answer is the same one we give about the account itself: renew if you are going to order, and do not think about it if you are not. The fee is the price of one bottle, the free Peppermint gives most of it back, and a single wholesale order saves more than the fee costs. There is no scenario in which renewing costs you money over the year, as long as you order at least once.
If you have not opened an account yet, the first year is covered by the enrollment fee, which in Europe is waived with a 150 PV first order. Pick your country on the home page and the form opens for your market; the step-by-step guide shows every screen, and the calculator shows how much the account saves on your first order. If you are not sure whether your membership is still active, what the renewal costs in your country, or how to find the date in your account, write to us on Telegram, WhatsApp or by e-mail — we will check it with you.
Fees and rules are set by dōTERRA and may change; the current amounts are shown in your account and in the cart before payment. dōTERRA products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Questions and answers
How long is a dōTERRA wholesale membership valid?
Twelve months from the date of enrollment. After that date the wholesale pricing stops until the renewal fee is paid; the account itself, your member number and your order history stay in place.
How much is the dōTERRA renewal fee?
In Europe and the UK it is €15 / £15 excluding VAT, roughly €18 with VAT depending on the country. In the US it is $25. In other markets such as Kazakhstan, Israel, the UAE, Ukraine or Canada the amount is shown in your account or at checkout; if you cannot find it, ask us.
Is the renewal fee charged automatically?
Not as a separate charge. dōTERRA adds it to the first order you place after the renewal date. If you do not order, nothing is charged and nothing is owed.
What do I get for renewing?
Another year of wholesale prices, 25% below retail, plus a free 15 ml bottle of Peppermint that dōTERRA adds to the order that carries the renewal fee. The bottle is worth more than the fee in most markets.
What happens if I do not renew?
Nothing. There are no reminders with penalties, no debt and no collection. The account simply shows retail prices. Whenever you place an order again, the renewal is added and wholesale pricing comes back.
Can I renew in a different country?
No. The account is tied to the market where it was opened and renews there. If you have moved to another country, write to dōTERRA support of your new market or to us, and we will explain the options.
Do I need to renew if I am in the Loyalty Rewards Program?
Yes, the fee applies to every account. An LRP order placed after the renewal date simply carries the fee like any other order, and the free Peppermint arrives with it.
