Where to buy dōTERRA cheaper: every route compared, from retail to Amazon
Retail site, wholesale account, starter kits, loyalty points, BOGO weeks, the free product of the month, Amazon and resellers, “sharing” an account, ordering from abroad — what each route really costs on one bottle of Lavender, which ones are safe, and which ones only look cheap.

Search “buy dōTERRA” and the first results are marketplaces and dozens of private sellers, some of them priced below the retail figure on doterra.com. That raises a fair question: if the oils are this expensive, is there a cheaper way in? There is — several, in fact — but the cheapest routes are the official ones, and the ones that look cheap at first glance are where people lose money. Here is every route we know of, with what it does to the price of one bottle.
The short version: your own wholesale account plus a starter kit plus loyalty points, ordered in promotion months, cuts the price of a 15 mL Lavender roughly in half against retail. Marketplaces, “borrowed” accounts and ordering from abroad either cost more, break the rules, or do not work at all.
Where the price starts: retail vs wholesale
Every product on doterra.com has two prices. Retail is what a visitor without an account pays: Lavender 15 mL $38.67, Peppermint $34.67, Frankincense around $105 in the US. Wholesale is 25% lower — $29, $26 and $79 for the same bottles — and applies to the whole catalogue. Retail is honest and safe: official warehouse, return policy, no forms beyond the shipping address. It is also the most expensive way to buy, and it only makes sense for a single bottle you want once. If that is you, buying without a membership covers the options.
Everything below is a way to get from the retail figure down, and all of them start with the same step.
Route 1: a wholesale account (–25%)
The Wholesale Customer account is the plain customer membership: 25% off for a year, no minimum orders, nothing to sell, nobody to recruit. In the US it is currently free to open; in Europe it is €24, in the UK £24, in Kazakhstan 9,260 ₸, in the UAE AED 130 — in every case about the price of one bottle, and waived when the first order is a kit (in Europe also when the first order is 150 PV or more). Renewal a year later costs about $25 in local currency and comes with a free 15 mL Peppermint, which is worth more than the fee. Details in the wholesale account explained.
On one Lavender the saving is $9.67; on a typical first order of $150 it is $50. The account pays for itself on the first order in any market, and every later order is at wholesale.
Route 2: a starter kit (another –20–40%)
Kits are dōTERRA’s way of getting new members to try a set of oils, and they are priced accordingly: 20–40% below the same bottles bought separately at wholesale, with the enrollment fee included. In Germany the Home Essentials kit (ten 15 mL oils — Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Frankincense, Tea Tree, Oregano, On Guard, Air, ZenGest and a 5 mL Deep Blue — plus a diffuser) is €328; the ten oils alone come to about €414 at wholesale, and the diffuser is another €52–55. In the US Home Essentials, diffuser included, is $280 against about $347.50 for the ten oils alone at wholesale; Essential Foundations is $265, and Natural Solutions is $450 and adds 100 loyalty points on top. Family Essentials ($135 in the US, €184 in Germany) is the same ten oils in 5 mL bottles without the diffuser.
The catch is only that a kit is a fixed set. If you already know you want three specific oils and nothing else, pay the small fee and pick freely; if you are new to oils and want a home set, the kit is the cheapest way to own one. Which kit fits which household is in the kits comparison.
Route 3: Loyalty Rewards points (10–30% back)
The Loyalty Rewards Program (LRP) is an optional monthly order that returns part of every order as product points: 10% in the first months, rising in steps to 30% after a year of continuous orders, plus the shipping cost back as points. Points are spent like money on any product. A Lavender bought at $29 with 30% back is effectively $20.30; with 10% back, $26.10.
LRP is where people get into trouble if they do not understand it: the template order repeats every month until you cancel it, and you have to check before the processing date, not after. It is worth joining once you know you reorder monthly anyway; it is not worth joining to “unlock” points on an order you would not otherwise place. The mechanics, including how to change and cancel the template, are in the LRP article.
Route 4: promotions (BOGO weeks, 10% off)
dōTERRA runs a small, predictable set of promotions. Most months one product is 10% off for the whole month — “product of the month” pricing — which takes Lavender from $29 to $26.10 when it is the featured oil. A few times a year there is a BOGO week: for five days a named product comes with a second one free (buy one, get one), so two Lavenders for $29 means $14.50 each. There are also occasional bundles and double-points days. None of this is advertised outside the members’ back office and the app, which is one more reason to have an account rather than watch a marketplace.
Route 5: the free product of the month (≥125 PV)
Separate from the discounts: every month a named product is added free to any loyalty order of 125 PV or more that processes by the 15th. It is often a 15 mL oil or a blend worth $25–40 at wholesale. If your monthly order is already around $125, that is a free bottle every month, or another 20–30% in value. Below 125 PV there is no free product, and it is not worth padding an order just to reach it — the padding costs more than the gift.
Route 6: marketplaces and resellers (usually not cheaper)
Now the routes that look cheap. dōTERRA does not sell on Amazon, eBay, Allegro, OLX or any marketplace and prohibits its advocates from listing there. Everything you see is one of three things: someone’s resold wholesale order (they paid $29 and list at $30–36 plus shipping), old or near-expiry stock from a closed account, or a counterfeit. Counterfeits are the real danger — a bottle at half price with a copied label and anything inside — and they are mostly found exactly here. A genuine bottle carries a lot number you can check at sourcetoyou.com; a marketplace photo does not. Beyond the fake risk, a reseller bottle brings no return rights (dōTERRA accepts returns only on official orders), no loyalty points and no promotions. How to spot a fake goes into the details.
The arithmetic is simple: a reseller has to buy at wholesale and add a margin, so the honest ones are above your own wholesale price and the ones below it are the ones to worry about.
Route 7: “sharing” someone’s account
A friend has an account and offers to order for you at wholesale. It happens all the time, and it is against the policies both of you agreed to: dōTERRA accounts are personal, orders ship to the holder’s address, returns and points belong to the holder, and repeated ordering for others can get the account closed. Practically it also means you depend on their timing, cannot see promotions yourself and get no points. Since your own account is free in the US and costs one bottle elsewhere, there is nothing to gain.
Route 8: buying abroad where it is cheaper
Prices differ between markets — Lavender is $29 in the US and €37 in Germany — and people ask whether to enroll in the cheaper country. It does not work: an account belongs to one market and ships only within it. A US account cannot deliver to Germany, and a German account cannot deliver to Kazakhstan; the form will not accept the address. Countries without direct enrollment are served through Global Access, which ships from the US to a US forwarding address, from where a forwarder sends it on at extra shipping and customs cost, and that is the only cross-border route that exists. Enroll where you receive parcels; the currency, taxes and shipping rules follow from that.
One bottle, every route
Here is a 15 mL Lavender at US prices under each route. Effective prices assume the wholesale account already exists.

|---|---|---|---|
| Retail on doterra.com | $38.67 | $38.67 | official, yes |
| Wholesale account | $29.00 | $29.00 | official, yes |
| Inside a starter kit | share of kit price | ~$18–23 | official, yes |
| Wholesale + LRP points | $29 minus 10–30% back | $20.30–26.10 | official, yes |
| Product of the month, 10% off | $26.10 | $26.10 | official, yes |
| BOGO week | $29 for two | $14.50 | official, yes |
| Free product of the month | free with a 125 PV order | $0 for that bottle | official, yes |
| Marketplace or reseller | $30–36 plus shipping | above wholesale, fake risk | third party, no |

| Enrolling abroad | — | does not ship to you | — |
Your country has its own figures — in Germany the retail-to-wholesale step is €49.33 to €37 for Lavender — but the ratios are the same everywhere, and the enrollment form shows the exact prices once you choose your country.
What we recommend
Open your own Wholesale Customer account in the country where you live, start with a kit if you want a set of oils, and add LRP only once you know you reorder monthly. Watch the back office for BOGO weeks and the free product, and ignore marketplaces entirely — the genuine bottles there cost more than yours will, and the cheap ones are not genuine. That combination is the real answer to “where is it cheaper”, and it comes with the official warehouse, a return policy and a lot number you can verify.
Pick your country on the home page and the official form opens for your market with our enroller number filled in; every screen is shown in the step-by-step guide. If anything is unclear, write to us and we will walk you through it.

Questions and answers
What is the cheapest legitimate way to buy dōTERRA?
Your own Wholesale Customer account, with the first order as a starter kit, and later orders through the Loyalty Rewards Program during promotion months. Stacked together that brings a 15 mL Lavender from $38.67 retail to roughly $15–20 effective, all from the official warehouse.
Is dōTERRA on Amazon genuine?
dōTERRA does not sell on Amazon, eBay or any marketplace and forbids its advocates from doing so. Listings there are resold stock of unknown age or counterfeits, usually priced above the wholesale price you would pay directly. There is no way to verify the oil at home.
How much does a wholesale account save?
25% off every product, for a year. Lavender 15 mL is $29 instead of $38.67 in the US; the fee is currently free in the US and about €24 in Europe, waived with a kit or a first order of 150 PV.
Are the starter kits really cheaper than buying oils separately?
Yes. A kit is priced 20–40% below the same bottles bought one by one at wholesale, and it includes the enrollment fee. Home Essentials in Germany is €328 for ten 15 mL oils and a diffuser, against about €414 for the oils alone (≈ €490 with a diffuser and the fee).
What is the free product of the month?
Each month dōTERRA names one product that is added free to any Loyalty Rewards order of 125 PV or more processed by the 15th. It is often a 15 mL oil worth $25–40, so on a $125 order it is effectively another 20–30% off.
Can I use a friend’s account to get the wholesale price?
You can, and people do, but it breaks dōTERRA’s policies: the account holder is responsible, returns and points go to them, and orders ship to their address. With a free or one-bottle-priced account of your own, there is no reason to.
Can I order from a country where prices are lower?
No. An account belongs to one market and ships only within it; a US account cannot deliver to Germany or Kazakhstan. Enroll in the country where you receive parcels.
