Citrus Bliss is the “good mood in a bottle” blend: a whole fruit bowl of citrus peels with a soft vanilla finish. It is one of those oils that guests notice the moment they walk in, and it is among the most affordable blends in the dōTERRA range.
In short: Citrus Bliss is a blend of cold-pressed citrus oils, including wild orange, lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, bergamot, tangerine and clementine, with vanilla bean absolute. A 15 ml bottle costs $25 wholesale in the US and £25.50 in the UK. It is used for daytime diffusing, room sprays and home-made soaps; on skin, mind the sun.
What it is and where it comes from
Citrus Bliss is not a single plant but a recipe. Most of its components are pressed from citrus peel, the same way the oil in an orange peel sprays when you squeeze it. Vanilla bean absolute is added in a small amount to soften the sharp edges and give the blend its creamy finish. The exact composition can vary by country, so read the label of your bottle.
Because the blend is built on peel oils, it shares their character: bright, quick to evaporate and a little delicate in storage.
Aroma
Sweet, juicy and uplifting, with orange and mandarin in front, a lemony sparkle, a slightly bitter grapefruit and bergamot note and a soft vanilla trail. It smells friendlier and rounder than any single citrus oil, which is why many people who do not like “oily” scents enjoy it.
How people use it
In the diffuser. Citrus Bliss is a daytime oil. It works on its own and as a bright top note in blends:
| Blend | Drops | When |
|---|---|---|
| Citrus Bliss on its own | 5–6 | Morning, kitchen |
| Citrus Bliss + Peppermint | 4 + 2 | Home office, afternoon slump |
| Citrus Bliss + Lavender | 3 + 3 | Late afternoon, living room |
| Citrus Bliss + Frankincense | 4 + 2 | Weekend at home |
Room spray. Mix 100 ml of water with a spoon of alcohol or witch hazel and 15–20 drops of Citrus Bliss in a glass or PET spray bottle. Shake well before each use. Spray into the air, not on wooden or painted surfaces.
Home-made soap and bath products. Many hobby soap makers add Citrus Bliss to melt-and-pour soap or to a sugar scrub with a carrier oil. Because it contains bergamot and lemon, wash-off products are a safer choice than leave-on lotions if you spend time in the sun.
Around the house. A few drops on a wool dryer ball, in the final rinse of a mop bucket or on a cotton pad in the car.
Safety
Citrus Bliss is gentle in smell but has two practical caveats:
- Photosensitivity: it contains cold-pressed bergamot and lemon. Avoid sun and UV light on treated skin for 12 hours.
- Dilute for skin: one to two drops per 10 ml of carrier oil, and patch-test first; oxidised citrus oil is more likely to irritate.
- For children, diffuse lightly in a ventilated room; dilute more if you apply it.
- In pregnancy or with medical conditions, ask your doctor first.
- Citrus oils can damage some plastics and varnishes: use glass, stainless steel or PET containers.
- Store it cool and dark, cap closed. Follow the label of your country.
Is it worth the price?
A 15 ml bottle holds about 250 drops, so at $25 one drop costs about 10 cents. A diffuser session of five drops comes to roughly 50 cents. For a blend of seven or eight oils, including some that are expensive on their own, that is reasonable value.
The catch is shelf life: citrus oils fade faster than woods and resins, so buy Citrus Bliss when you will actually use it rather than stockpiling. Test results for every batch are public at sourcetoyou.com.
What to pair it with
Citrus Bliss is not in a starter kit. If you already own Wild Orange or Lemon, you have its main ingredients, so think of Citrus Bliss as a more rounded upgrade rather than a must. It blends beautifully with Peppermint for focus, Lavender for a softer mood, and Frankincense or Cedarwood for a warmer base. For a spicy winter twist, add one drop of Cardamom or Clove.
Where to buy it
Buy directly from dōTERRA under your market’s terms: you pay the price in the table above, the parcel ships from the regional warehouse under your country’s rules, and the bottle is fresh stock with the correct label. If your country is not an official dōTERRA market, you order through Global Access: the parcel ships from the US via a forwarding intermediary, with extra shipping and customs costs. Marketplace bottles of unknown age are a particular risk with citrus; here is how to spot a fake. Pick your country on the home page to open the official form with the wholesale price, or ask us if anything is unclear.
Questions and answers
How much does dōTERRA Citrus Bliss cost?
In the US a 15 ml bottle is $25.00 wholesale and $33.33 retail; in the UK it is £25.50 wholesale and £34.00 retail. The table above lists ten countries from the official October 2026 price lists.
What is in Citrus Bliss?
It is a blend of citrus peel oils such as wild orange, lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, bergamot, tangerine and clementine, rounded off with vanilla bean absolute. The exact list can differ by market, so read the label on your bottle.
Can I go in the sun after using Citrus Bliss on my skin?
To be safe, no. The blend contains cold-pressed bergamot and lemon, which can make skin sensitive to sunlight. Avoid sun and tanning beds on treated skin for 12 hours, or use it only on skin that stays covered.
Is Citrus Bliss the same as Wild Orange?
No. Wild Orange is a single oil; Citrus Bliss is a mix of several citrus oils with a touch of vanilla. It smells sweeter and more rounded, while Wild Orange is simpler and slightly cheaper.
Does Citrus Bliss go off?
Citrus oils oxidise faster than most others. Keep the cap closed, store the bottle in a cool, dark place and aim to use it within one to two years of opening.
